Mercedes-Benz launched the W114 and W115 in 1968. It was produced until 1976.
The W114 is equipped with a six-cylinder engine and sold under the names 230, 250 and 280. W115 is equipped with four-cylinder engines, which are sold under the names of 200, 220, 230 and 240, and diesel models are D-suffix.
At that time, the model was not called “Class E”, but Mercedes used/8 on the nameplate, so this generation was nicknamed “Strich 8”, and German was diagonal 8. A total of 1.9 million units were produced and sold.
The W114 series is a very elegant existence in the mid-size sedan models of Mercedes-Benz.
All vehicles produced in this series are also equipped with 4-speed transmission.
This generation is also famous for its quality and durability. A Greek taxi driver drove 4.6 million kilometers (2.9 million miles) on his 1976 vehicle and broke the Mercedes Benz mileage record.
In 8 years of production, the W114 series has produced 463104 cars, of which 67048 are coupe cars.
This series of models was designed by Paul Bracq, a French automotive designer, who cooperated with Mercedes-Benz from 1957 to 1967. The design of W114/w115 is based on its predecessor W108 and W108 S-Class.
