The Porsche Boxster is a two seater convertible sports car produced by Porsche AG in Germany. The Boxster is a combination of box + ster. Box is from boxer, representing Porsche horizontal opposed engine; Roadster is short for roadster.
In 1993, the Porsche Boxster was exhibited at the North American auto show for the first time. At the end of 1996, Porsche officially mass produced the Boxster and put it on the market. Since then, the Porsche Boxster has become the largest selling model of Porsche.
On January 12, 2012, Porsche released the third generation Porsche Boxster code named 981 on its official website. Compared with the previous generation, the appearance of the new car has changed greatly: shorter suspension, more inclined windshield, more powerful side contour and edge lines, newly designed all electric hood, convertible roof compartment lid, newly designed LED tail light and tail shape. The new car uses a large number of lightweight alloys. In terms of interior design, the Porsche Boxster follows the Porsche family design, and most of the design comes from the new Porsche 911.
