It is not only a winner in the WRC arena, but also in the hearts of many speed fans who pursue high-performance sports cars. It is also a super streetcar nearest to their dreams. Since its birth, Evo is a sports car full of race pedigree. Evo has performed well in car rally, field race and even night racing.
Evo was first sold only in Japan. The evo before the seventh generation was specially developed by Mitsubishi Motor for the world rally WRC. In order to comply with the rules of WRC, evolution uses the same integrated load-bearing body structure as other Lancer series. Due to the large demand of parallel market, Evo has been introduced into European market since 1998 through the sales network of RALLIART, Inc., a famous automobile refitting company. In 2003, Subaru Impreza WRX series models achieved success in the U.S. market, so Mitsubishi decided to export the eighth generation Evo to the United States.
